I just got to the first town, Valentine, so hopefully I can find some poker action. That's one of my fave things from the first game and something I was jonesing for.

It's one of the first missions you do. To get the reverend at some station south of the camp. Opens up poker.

It's different in this game, in a good way. The ai on the other players is fantastic, and the game intentionally makes it so you end up building rivalries and having entertaining matches the whole time.

If I remember correctly, there's no Poker there - though nothing's stopping you from free-roaming to a town that does have it. You can even, eventually (not sure if story progress or just playing a game elsewhere is the trigger), play it at your camp with the other gang members - Uncle seems to be by far the best player among the game, though he's far from unbeatable if you're half-decent. (I'm good enough to break even, but not profit much, long-term in lowish stakes online poker; and it took me a good hour to bust him out.)

There's one guy in Saint Denis like that too

Yeah, that guy was even worse. But I was a lot less surprised to find a good player in a large saloon in Saint Denis, than to find Uncle of all people being good.

$5 buy in is the highest I've seen so far. It's not like rdr1 where you could end up doubling or quadrupling your entire fortune in a couples hours of poker lol. Money has more weight in this game. Even though there's a gold bar dupe glitch lol.
