Everything Arthur went through to try and ensure John and his family get out, going through the epilogue and seeing him really try, only to end up how we all know.

Literally only a couple people ultimately survive the whole ordeal, and by the start of ww1, only Jack really is known to remain.

Also, the whole saga from rdr2 to rdr1 is a textbook shakesperean tradegy.

I've been sad all week

and when Arthur was telling John to go to his family, and he was like, "it would mean a lot to me", I almost got misty eyed

but yea, this game really drove home the tragedy of Jack becoming an outlaw - he had all of these people who loved him and wanted him to live a decent life, but then what happened to his family led him on a path of revenge that undid all of that

no one knows what happens to Jack after Red Dead Redemption other than an easter egg in GTAV

and we don't really know what happens to the rest of Dutch's gang that survive RDR2, but don't show up in RDR

Most of them were bit players for the most part anyway.

Also, rdr1 ends at the outset of ww1. That's what I meant.

Yep. It's sad because the games show he's intelligent, and he says he wants to be a lawyer, and ultimately becomes his father and kills a retired federal agent.

When Arthur said thank you to his horse, I got so sad lol

Do any of you think Dutch had any remorse whatsoever for what happened? Do you think he was always like that, he just got lucky and was charismatic, or do you think he lost it at some point?

another really emotional moment, but on the other spectrum, was John's proposal to Abigail.

I had a super goofy smile on my face.

this game's really good at depicting both happiness and tragedy

I think he was always crazy, he just had a way of masking it via his charisma

Yeah I think he just didn't kill any innocents in the beginning because he didn't have to. When they first started their gang, it was basically the glory days of the wild west, with not much law out that way. As things came undone he dropped the facade.

Same. I feel like the series is a shakesperean tragedy set in the wild west.

His plan was open rebellion, deep down, that's what it was. He just wanted chaos.
