Never mind the absurd collection, but the comments below the article are kind of "...really?"

I don't get it either, but at least you can play PS2 games.

But the people who collect all those statues and busts and s***? It's like, "Wow, this is a thing I have. I have all these things". And it just sits there in your room as expensive decoration and anti-sex magnet. Congrats?

To be fair, the PS2 did have a ton of crap on it. Then again, so did the NES and nobody scoffs at AVGN so whatever.

lots of those people aren't commenting on the quality of the games though. they're legitimately baffled at the fact that he's kept them sealed

Whoa whoa whoa, anti-sex magnet? You just have to find a girl who likes being watched.

Oh I didn't actually read the article. I've always felt collecting sealed games is a bit... odd... But I have over 650 "worthless" pez dispensers, so whatever you like spending money on.

I've never been a guy who collects for the sake of collecting - honestly it seems like a silly way to fill a void in one's life that could be filled with any number of more fruitful, fulfilling activities, but that's just my opinion.

I've always thought collecting stuff in general was dumb. I buy things so I can use them, not look at them on a shelf. If some people take pride in simply having things... good for them.

I don't think collecting is dumb, lots of people do it. I would never do it, because I don't enjoy it. I do understand that it is a legitimate hobby.

But I know many collectors who get a thrill out of collecting rares. Finding that rare collectable after hours and hours of searching is a huge satisfying reward. You might say collecting is a game for them.

I'll gladly spend 10,000,000 gold pieces on a sword in a game, but there's no way I'd spend that much (or the equivalent) on anything in real life. I have a friend who wants to collect every NES game (so he can sell the whole thing as a lot, not because he wants to have the collection), but even he says that he's unlikely to spend 41,300 on Stadium Events, which is what it went for last year.

There are probably some completionists in those commenters. People have fun completing a collection, even if they don't spend money doing it in the real world.

This guy is my hero, sort of. Except I only collect the ones that I enjoy. Okay wow Every game is new and sealed.

I'm confused too...once he hit 400 and discovered he was half way there? I'm pretty sure an upwards of 2,000 PS2 games were released in America.

Oh God the comments are hilarious. Let's pretend the abundance of items that actually have no use that people collect aren't a waste, like sports cards. Remember those? I spent a good chunk of my earned money on those when I was a kid. Still have them too. Probably going to give all my cards to someone I think deserves them.

That's actually pretty cool, being able to play any PS2 game you want. I bet there are some real gems in the collection that 99% of people would never get a chance to play.

Collecting sealed games is weird because it prevents you from playing them, which is what games are for.

My dad likes turtles, so he collects little figurines of turtles that he displays around the house. That makes sense to me because it's not like the turtles can do anything but sit there and look cool (if you think turtle figurines look cool). But games/movies/music are different.
