Japanese, Chinese, South Korean and Indian. They're quite good, although no better or worse than most countries' films, I guess. I know film buffs have a boner for Japanese films, but I don't know why they get so excited and fawn over them so much. These countries make some good dramas and horror films, I think. Overall, though, I think Europe and North America make the best films. French, Mexico, America, etc.

I saw a Chinese film (well the first 30 minutes of it) where this fishing village is attacked by a fish demon. I think it was an action comedy. I'd like to watch the rest of it but I don't remember the name. I think it had something to do with a demon hunter who stores them in a magical bag or something.

Journey to the West. Watched that a month ago as well. Pretty decent movie, though my only complaint is the subtitles took up way too much of the screen.

Should be on Netflix.

conquer the demons is the subtitle, gotta put that in when looking for that one in particular because dozens of movies called journey to the west exist. anyway the sequel comes out later this year

I've been very into Japanese cinema lately, mostly enjoying the craziness of Sion Sono and Takashi Miike. There's some very good films from Thailand and the Philippines also. Hong Kong and Taiwan both have a lot to offer as well. I'm not as into South Korean films as a lot of cinephiles are.
