£10, which I think is about $15. I can't believe it. This is a huge hike from the current £7.50 an hour. I actually feel slightly embarassed about this (although pleased), because stacking shelves or whatever doesn't really warrant that much money.

What does CE think about this?

The designated term is "jiggery bundlers", in the context of supermarket self-serve checkouts. When referring to automation in the sense of self-driving cars we'd say "trundle wheelie point and clickies".

I've worked a lot of minimum wage jobs, and it doesn't warrant that much. Still would make me feel better about having a boring / annoying / upsetting job, though.

But, it's not going to benefit its intended targets at all. All raising the pricefloor actually accomplishes is raising the skill floor. Someone who can't stock shelves at rate that's worth at least £10 (by however it's calculated) will be sacked in favor of someone who can. The people who can only get "minimum wage" jobs are the ones punished the most by minimum wage increases.

What TC doesn't want CE to know is that Corbyn is notioriously unpopular in the UK

So much so that the current right-wing government is calling for a snap election in 2 months because if they hold one now, they will win by a landslide.

The majority of his own party loathe him.

"Notoriously unpopular"? He's the leader of the second biggest party in the UK, and when he became leader there was a huge increase in membership of that party. He has a reasonable, but not big, chance of getting elected in 2 months' time. Besides, there have been plenty of election upsets over the last few years. Very few thought Trump would win, and he won be a large margin. People were laughing at him, just a couple of weeks before the election.

"Notoriously unpopular"? He's the leader of the second biggest party in the UK,

A party that in the previous election lost comfortably despite the polls and predictions being neck and neck,

Since then fell apart, hand a mass rush of 4 different widely different people fighting for leadership all of whom are hated by a core of their own party.

Again shit you don't want CE to know. "Leader of the second biggest party" misleading as fuck

Incredibly unpopular leader of a party that is in shambles.

Talking to CE like Corbyn is a powerful authority is a lazy way to clickbait the ignorant users

Mind, minimum wage isn't £7.50 currently. Or only applies to people over 25, everyone else gets £7 or less. (yay semantics) I dunno specifics of what he wants to raise as not looked into it though.

But yes, snap election is likely done to consolidate power and remove labour's credibility. But is May liked herself?and wasn't Corbyn popular with younger people? Not that being popular with young people seems to mean much, given we seem to despise voting.

But despite minimum wage jobs not always being "important", it is a pretty crappy life for those who do end up on em, when you are just getting by.

May isn't popular due to being right-wing (so hated by the left) and pro-Remain/unelected so disliked by some conservatives. but the conservative party is very popular right now.

Remember in the UK you're not voting for the PM, you're voting for the MP of your constituency.

Labour is so divided and Corbyn is so unpopular that he will be slaughtered.
