I went there recently and traded in a PS3 plus 31 games for around $150 credit. It was easy money.

Got a PowerUp Rewards Pro card, FFXV, DQVIII, a $20 PSN card, and a $35 eShop card. Awwwww yeah.

Basically no one should ever trade in to gamestop unless they have a trade in promo going on anyways.



I basically outgrew gamestop when I became more price oriented. I only buy from gamestop now when they have a great sale which is not too often. But, I also basically never pay full price for a game either.

Gamestop did do me dirty one time. I bought Last Remnant used. Tried to bring it back when I realized the disc was a fake copy that played just the load up screen and nothing else. Asked to exchange for a different last remnant disc. Was told no. Pretty much soured to them that day for good.

Not because they wouldn't exchange it, which they easily could have. But, that their testing policies didn't uncover that before I purchased it.



I also used to hate to hell when they kept selling me new games that were previously opened and used. = /

Amazon being more convenient combined with me not playing "new" games aside from handhelds meant they just fell by the wayside for me.

And then they did me dirty on P5 by cancelling my order the day the game came out.

I havent been inside of a gamestop since I bought Marvel Vs Capcom 3 in early 2011. Since then its either been online physical, online digital, Target, or the small brick and mortar store about 30 minutes away but has a nice selection of retro and modern

I stopped using them when every time I tried to buy a "new" game it was opened and had stickers all over it. It's probably been 6-7 years since I used them for games. Amiibo and collectibles I'll sometimes buy there. I also bought Song of the Deep there since it was a GameStop exclusive since it was published by GameStop.

Why would I use them anyway when I get 20% off all new games at Best Buy and Amazon, and Best Buy's rewards system crushes GameStop's

It's a fair system, even if not ideal

My local gamestop used to let employees try out copies and then when returned were sold as new. My buddy who worked there said it was so they could jnow more about the products they were selling. *shrug*

You're not allowed to do that with new copies, so your gamestop is actually legit one of the bad ones

No idea if they still do it. My friend worked there for 2 years and my other friends brother was manager for like a year later on. He actually tokd me to bring in Last Remnant to do the exchange no problems and I waited a week and he took a new job in the mean time. = (((

Gamestop gave me $150 for my Wii U when I traded it toward the Switch. Yes that's only half the value of what it originally cost but it's also the highest value that the Wii U is ever going to have again and it was gathering dust.

Gamestop isn't really as bad as people make it out to be but you have to know how to actually play their game.

I rarely go to Gamestop anymore, but I had to last month to preorder Destiny 2 Limited Edition, which was already sold out at Amazon. Not surprisingly, I didn't get a preorder bonus Cayde figurine. I've also missed out on a lot of bonuses because the employees hoard them or give them out to friends, according to people I know that have worked there.

Your store prolly did what mine did also with employees, Shell.

They used to have an only 2 games out per employee at a time policy at my local and can only be out for 7 days. No joke.

To be fair, it depends on the game. Gamestop gets a shit ton of popular games, but barely any of anything else, and don't seem to tend to replenish those until they sell out. So it could've been a case of that, or... Yeah, what Corrik said.

My local GameStop is pretty awesome. There are a couple times I bought a game several months or years old and they still had unopened collector's editions around. I dunno if it is sold this way, but I recently picked up Trails of Cold Steel 2 which was just the PS3 game in the store. Figured I'd pick it up since they were virtually out of new PS3 games to sell. They ended up giving me the box, pin and art book you get when you buy the first game so now I have two copies of the box, pin and art book. I dunno what to even do with the copy

I haven't had any bad experiences at Gamestop, but the nearest one is like a 45-minute round trip walk away. Online is just so much more convenient.

Yeah, their return policy on used games is a great way to play short games that I really wouldn't want to pay much money for. When they ask if something was wrong with the game, I just straight up say "nah, I just beat it already."

I used them as a good source for amiibos back when I was hunting them. I still will occasionally buy a game from them because it's the quickest option, so if I can't get it cheaper online (I usually can), I may just stroll in to GS.

I only go there for console purchases or if they're having a sale with better prices than Amazon.

I've never had a bad experience, it's just easier and often cheaper to use Amazon.

it's 3 minutes away from me. although i only buy new so unless i preordered it chances are they're not going to have a copy.

I genuinely enjoy the classic brick-and-mortar experience.

I should note, though, I buy like two to four games a year, max. If I were grabbing multiple new releases every month left and right I'd no doubt turn to Amazon by now.

Although, really, I've been switching to digital quite a bit regardless.
