I knew a cat that would decapitate squirrels and leave them on the porch.

I've seen coyotes in pretty well-developed areas around Massachusetts.

I live in Massaschusetts. We assume a coyote killed my cat about 17 years ago. He was an outdoor cat. We'd always let him out, and he'd always come back when we called for him.

One day when he was outside, we called for him and he wouldn't come back for some reason. The next morning, we saw an animal control truck on the street. When we questioned him, he said there was a coyote sighted in the area.

Haven't seen that cat since. He was such an obedient and very smart cat too.

Same thing happened to my friend's cat in North Attleboro. She was an outdoor cat, getting pretty old, but still healthy and always came indoors for the night. One night she didn't come home, and there were coyote sightings in the area around that time :(

Not certain it was a coyote, but that's the most likely scenario.

It sucks. Yeah, my cat was pretty old, but very, very healthy as well. When a cat disappears like that and you suddenly hear of coyote sightings, there's nothing else to assume really.
