- Really good characters
- Interesting look at artificial lifeforms
- Slow and with some pretty good suspense
- Great visuals
- More of a sense of threat from the aliens than in previous films
- Really exciting and tense action sequences
- Successful attempt at a serious sci-fi film

I don't have the highest of standards, never will, but this wasn't that good at all. It was better than Prometheus, but that's about it.

im in the same boat. and i really like alien 3 (4/5) and think resurrection is tolerable (2.5/5). i thought Prometheus was better simply because the expansions it gave to the lore were cool. What Covenant did to the lore is fucking awful and I will pretend it never happened.

I'm starting to get really curious as to what they did to the lore. I've seen many people complain about it. I'll have to try and watch the movie soon.

The movie explains the origin of the famous xenomorph creature from the original Alien movie, and many people seemed disappointed. I personally didn't, since I love the literally symbolism of what they did (which was very well established in Prometheus).

Main issue for me is how this squares with the beginning of Alien. Too early to say if it's a plothole.

There's going to be at least one more film, so everyone's needs some patience.

Ah. That doesn't sound all that bad. Of course, I can't really make any judgments now. I've always been curious about their origins, so I may end up liking the movie.

Covenant definitely had and handled themes much better, and had a more developed character for David. I like that they added to the lore a fair bit - the one criticism was (similar to Prometheus) the characters that made rather stupid/dumb decisions

Yeah, sort of. The biggest issue I have with it is that the Xenomorphs are only about 20ish years old as a species at the start of Alien. When in that movie they say the ship's been there long enough to fossilize.

It kind of took away the sense of danger these things pose on a galactic level. They're no longer a threat spreading throughout the galaxy, they're just byproducts of mankind who only appear where they're placed/created.

Theres a ton of references to british and welsh writers , as my friend told me, if you catch all those and are a fan of the series then its a 9/10 movie.
