...CDs and online albums?

Has nobody told them it isn't the 80s anymore? I can understand as a novelty release, but sometimes an artist will have only release EPs and LPs.

Can you even define the difference between an EP and an LP?

A lot of people are under the impression that analog is better than digital. And, I actually agree with that. However, what most people don't understand, is that it's all about how the music is RECORDED, not the medium in which it is played back. In other words, music should be recorded with analog reels, but then transferred to a digital medium of playback such as a CD. That way, you get all the warmth of analog, but without all the hissing and popping of playing a record.

Exactly.

The way albums are mixed also makes a difference. If you took the same mix from a CD release and put it on vinyl there would be no point. Some releases are remixed accordingly for the vinyl releases but definitely not all, if even most.

I think most times it's just for the sake of giving the hardcore fans something collectable anyway, not so much about the sound quality.

Vinyl has been making a comeback.

I work in a music/movie store, and naturally, we've been cutting down on the amount of CDs and DVDs we carry, as sales for them have been going down. Vinyl, however, has been expanding, as sales for it has been increasing for us.

an LP is just a "full length album" and an EP is just a "shorter album".

i've seen EPs get released in CD format, for example.

also, physical media is dying and CDs are going away. if you want physical media, you need to get into vinyl, CDs will be gone completely in a few years

Technically, you still fidelity in the transfer, but it's a total nonissue unless you're a cyborg or something.
