It is also almost unfair to include BotW but it is a Wii U game as well even though most will have played it on the Switch.

I'm gonna chip in

Bayonetta 2 > Super Mario 3D World > Super Smash Bros. for Wii U > Mario Kart 8 > Splatoon > Super Mario Maker > New Super Mario Bros. U > Xenoblade Chronicles X > Hyrule Warriors > ZombiU

Not gonna rank BotW because, first of all, I'm playing it on the Switch and second of all, I've only played about 10 hours of the game.

Also to be fair in the rankings, I didn't beat Xenoblade X and Hyrule Warriors. X turned out to be one of the most disappointing games after the high XC left off on. It became one of my most anticipated games during development only to end up disappointing me in ways I couldn't even imagine. I played about 15 hours of it before I realized it was nothing like XC and the story and characters were flatout lifeless pieces of carboard. Dropped it shortly but I do feel I should give it another chance in the future... when I have like zero backlog.

Hyrule Warriors is a laughably bad Dynasty Warriors clone (not that Dynasty Warriors is great) and I should have known better but it rests in the shelf where it belongs and I suspect it would remain untouched... forever.

ZombiU has been a major waste of my time that I want back but will never get. Beat it once and I'm forever done with it.

Super Mario Maker, but Mario 3D World and Mario Kart 8 are pretty great too. Haven't played BotW yet and could never get into Xenoblade Chronicles X despite loving the original.

I played breath of the wild on switch so not counting that. Tropical Freeze for me. Never hear anyone talk about it but it's probably a top 15-20 game for me.


Edit: I want this on switch so bad but it's probably doomed to be lost with the Wii U.

Of the ones listed, I'd go with Super Mario Maker. I've only played a little of Breath of The Wild, but so far I'm... disappointed. I like some of the general ideas, but feel like it's still missing some of the charm of the older zelda games. But I'm not too far into it yet, so maybe it picks up. I didn't like Twilight Princess when I first played it--not until I got past the Goron Mines.

Agreed. I had been waiting until there was a worthwhile game to get a WiiU, and that was the first game that made me consider it, but by then the Switch had already been announced and I figured "eh, all the systems have backward compatibility now, I'll just skip the WiiU entirely and pick up the few WiiU games I want on the next system." And then it turns out that's not an option.

It is. Bayonetta 2 does everything that 1 does and better. The only thing you can argue Bayonetta 1 having, is a harder final boss on its highest difficulty.

When I played Bayonetta 1. I thought hmm... this game is great but the story sucks ass and the gameplay could use some polish. And the areas are super forgettable. A really good action game but nothing amazing.

When I played Bayonetta 2. I thought, wow! This game actually rivals DMC3 and Ninja Gaiden Black as the best action game made. The story was better and the gameplay and design was outstanding. The atmosphere also improved upon the original in ways I would have never even dreamed of. One of the best action games ever made.

In hindsight I should have put Hyrule Warriors (even though I dislike the game) in place of NSMBU which is clearly getting SFFed to death here. It is not a bad game at all. It is certainly better than NSMB 1 and 2 at least and equal to NSMB Wii.

That's all it does though. It's like DLC for Bayo 1. It adds very close to 0 new things, and one of the biggest new things, Umbran Climax, just dulls the gameplay. Story and bosses were way weaker too, no personality or audacity. You could really tell it wasn't a Kamiya directed game.

It stopped being fun making levels no one would play.

I've never played Bayonetta games but based on the React videos Ive seen of it, it's just a button masher where you press attack over and over and it dazzles people with cool fight choreography.

I just like more to my games than that.

Unless you're playing the game on the easiest difficulty, you won't get very far with button mashing.

Bayonetta actually has some of the deepest gameplay in its genre. Some of the stuff you can do is seriously bananas.

2 relies on a lot of plot elements from 1 (though I don't recall if there's a summary or not) and basically spoils the first game severely.

Which means that it's a good thing that Bayonetta 1 is included in Bayonetta 2.
