I mean, advertising isn't solely based off clicks. Just keeping the product/service fresh in the consumer's mind is still a benefit, even if your click-through rate is low.
Also advertisements on sites are generally extremely cheap, given that they're priced per 1000 ads. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

Never see them unless I have forgotten to turn off javascript on phone. Even then I typically do not see ads because they crash my phone's browser anyway.

I specifically click them whenever I see them. I then purchase the product, no matter how unreasonable its price or irrelevant its content. I even upload the various banners to image hosting sites and "spam" my posts with them on other websites, modifying the imagery such that it redirects its viewers to the companies' pages. In this sense, I become a supplemental advertiser, myself -- without reward.
