He's a pretty good writer, but his Pynchon Classic and Pynchon Lite books.

Inherent Vice. Great on several levels. And yet, it's considered his 2nd or 3rd weakest book.

I think I was trying to say that they're equally good. Sorry. People need to stop hating on the Lite books, especially Bleeding Edge.

My question is why do you think readding all of the books by a reclusive, common, and somewhat irrelevant author needs an AMA?

I guess. There aren't that many people who have read all his books, probably.

Sure a fair few have. I've read a lot of them and I find him to be a tiresome writer.

Weird thing to have an AMA about unless you're iverly proud of your non-achievement.

what are perennial Pynchonian themes?

do you think he is writing another Gravity's Rainbow while he works on his newer stuff, maybe to be released around when he dies?

do you think his new stuff is an attempt to become mainstream?

I think his main themes are paranoia, and human stupidity. He is quite cynical.

I have no idea what he's working on at the moment, if anything. I don't know if he'll try and recapture the popularity of GR, because he already got burnt with ATD. I'm not sure if his new stuff is meant to be mainstream, or what. Although it clearly is more accessible than his other books generally are. I thought his new books were good, though.

Indie mainstream, I guess. I dunno. He's lots of film-makers, he's unknown to most people, but serious readers really like him.
