I've wanted to do this for quite awhile. Especially since Castlevania comes out on Netflix on Friday, now seems like a good time to start. Here is the timeline, if you're curious:

Circle of the Moon is technically not canon I guess, but I feel like including it. Not interested in doing the N64 games that aren't canon.

I did actually recently listen to the audiobook version of Bram Stoker's Dracula, so I'll probably watch one of the movies in this journey. Not sure what I'll do for 1999, but I feel like I need to do something.

I will likely play ReBirth for Adventure, Super for I, and Dracula X for Rondo.

Lament of Innocence is downloading on my PS3 now. I've never played it before. What should I expect?

I need to restart Curse of Darkness sometime. No idea how far I got in that.

I almost got 100% in Lament but there's like .1% I never found so I could never try the superboss. Now it's been years so I'd probably have to spend hours upon hours just relearning how to play.

Plus I'd have to hook up my PS2 because I don't have the thing to transfer save files to my PS3 and those look expensive ever since Sony ripped out backward compatibility.

I think the atmosphere and music of Lament are great, story's better than you might expect, the combat/level design is...not very interesting. Pretty short game though so NBD.

Curse of Darkness is definitely better. My #1 favorite soundtrack of any video game!!

For 1999, you could watch the movie "Dracula 2000". IIRC it's pretty bad, so you could pretend that Dracula watched that movie in 1999 and was so embarrassed that he gave up dracula ing.

You sure you don't want to play Rondo?? It's a contender for best game in the series, you can get it on wii or wii u...

Oh apparently Dracula X Chronicles has Rondo in it, so that solves that.

I like the perspective, that's one of the neatest things about the game! Kinda like a top down 3d game!

The voice acting and music help make this game not suck. It can really drag after a few areas. But the bosses do find some interesting place in a game that is really short. Make sure to change subweapons a lot to eliminate some of the repetitive combat.

But seriously, that acting and music. SO GOOD!

I do also want to mention that they have a new dub for SOTN that's unlockable via a PSP game. I tend to prefer the acting there, Alucard aside. The original actor is way better. Everyone else is just flat out better in the PSP version.

Just mentioning it if you want to Youtube scenes. The hassle involved (and the allure of those iconic original quotes) is probably worth seeing at least once. I'm not lying though. One character in that game is cringeworthy.

But whatever, that's not for lots of games yet.

Lament of Innocence is pretty good. Has a very good story and is pretty fun to play. It is a short game and you can get it over with quick, even if you don't like it that much.

Now Curse of Darkness. That game is criminally underrated. I loved every second of it and the only real flaw it has, is that the game is too easy. I really wish we got more 3D games like it before Konami pulled the plug on..... video games.

I finished my game of Assassin's Creed Rogue today so I wouldn't have as many other games to play (now all I have is Nier Automata...for the most part...).

I give the game credit for making each area unique...but only aesthetically. After a few rooms, the allure dies off. If you can, try to find some secret whips.

Should probably rearrange those shelves so there's a Castlevania shelf and an Akumajo Dracula shelf.

Also I hope there's a Haunted Castle cabinet right next to that, and maybe an old cell phone with Order of Shadows loaded on it.
