Not always. I missed out on TLoU because I didn't have a PS3 when it came out. If it wasn't rereleased on PS4 I probably would have never had the opportunity.

i like them because a lot of times i missed a game from last gen (since i can only play so many a year), so i get a chance to play the game for the first time now, or replay the game but this time with a good frame rate, all the DLC content, etc
