There's a big cliche of the solem hero who is forced into saving the day in the situation. Like Frodo from LOTR or Adam from Deus Ex.


Or every RPG ever with the Hero's Journey of having the shit kicked out of them.

Even in a lot of other stories like James Bond or COD the hero is just doing their job.

What stories are there where the hero is like "I wanna go out on an adventure full of peril and save the day!"

I think Indiana Jones qualifies. Would seem kinda dumb for him to walk into a base of Nazis and get the jewel of Magasjailcala and then go "I never asked for this!" with a hollywood tear when he got captured.

Silver Age Flash got his powers by accident and was like, "Well, guess Im gonna be the Flash now".

No tragic back story. No profound motivation. He got superpowers and wanted to be a good guy.
