Until the late 90s Walmart didn't sell groceries. When they started, selected stores were remodeled into supercenters.

Yes but some the traditional Walmarts have a much smaller grocery selection and no produce, limited meat and dairy.

Citation please. I haven't gone into a Wal-Mart that didn't sell groceries for a long time.

By groceries I mean fresh meat, veggies, fruit, baked goods, etc. They all sell packaged food like cereal and chips but I don't consider those groceries.

Regular Walmarts. Didn't sell fresh produce, much dairy, or meats.
Then they experimented and built what they called Hypermarts (stupid name) which became the prototype for Super Walmarts. They didn't have a Walmart branded grocery side. It was handled by an actual supermarket. (Ours was WinDixie) It was pretty much like a miniature mall with a few other small stores and a food court.
The smaller Walmarts are known as Neighborhood Markets.

I work in a Hypermart that has been converted into a Superwalmart.
