How do I know if I'm taking it from its family? maybe there are other cats nearby? idk it was alone but I'm worried I'd be doing the wrong thing by abducting it

Put it in a single room in your house with food and water and a box of litter. idk if it will approach you or not >_> if it's open, pet it. Otherwise let it feel safe in the room

In my culture, stray cats are a sign of the devil. We, like in many other cultures, believe in having a dog as a friend because their eyes and nose can smell and see spirits and they're willing to protect you. Cats are the opposite because they are spirits' best friend. Letting a stray cat in your house is literally inviting a spirit into your house.

Typical thing to do would be make fliers or ask around about it if you suspect it's a pet. Make sure you don't show a picture of the cat and have them describe it if someone claims to have lost one
