And the groom spend at least the same amount too. So thats half the yearly household income, not counting the help from parents, etc.

I dunno why people do this. I dunno why weddings have to be extravagant and expensive and shit. This tradition is shit. It is cancer on middle or lower class income. Why the fuck it is still accepted and even encouraged i dunno.

All that money can be spent on soooo much better things, productive things. Property, investing, healthcare, retirement plan, planned education fund for future children, etc yet most couple who barely make livable wage blow so much money on something that only last one night.

yeah it's insane. my cousins tend to do wedding parties with 400+ people. the last one I went to a couple of weeks ago had 630 invitations
