Everything I can find about it just shows never-ending monster killing.

I've never played a Monster Hunter game before, but the combat is fun as shit in Dragon's Dogma. It's not all combat, all the time though if that is your question.

The only part that would be similar is that you can get monster parts by destroying different areas of them like with drakes

Dragons dogma is 30 bucks on psn (ps4) lol.

Never played. Why I'm asking.

It's got way better combat. MH is fairly clunky. Also, completely different types of games but I really like both.

Tbqh I'm not the biggest mh fan because it's basically only monster killing. Was curious if it was closer to mh or other sword and sorcery type rpgs.

Definitely closer to sword and sorcery types however the online boss Ur Dragon that gives the best equipment would probably appeal to you

There's a bunch of side quests, and areas to explore and stuff. You'll occasionally find a big enemy as you're exploring, or in quest areas and stuff. Taking down big enemies is fun as hell though, and feels amazing.

The end-game areas have a bit more focus on boss fights and stuff, but also have treasure chests scattered throughout dungeons and stuff that have some powerful gear (most chests have loot-tables, as opposed to static drops)

There's a bunch of different classes to play as, each with their own playstyles. What kind of playstyles do you generally enjoy?

Two hand sword and sword and board.

Fighter is Sword and Board class, though I never played as it much.

Warrior uses greatswords/mauls, and hits like a fucking truck. One of his moves, Arc of Deliverance it's strong enough to one-shot some boss enemies. That move has a long wind-up though.

Assassin can use Sword/Daggers, and Shield/Shortbows. The first two being primary weapons, second two being secondary weapons.

Mystic Knight uses Sword/Mace and Shields and has a mix of melee attacks, and magical attacks. He can also enchant his shield to provide different effects when blocking attacks or parrying.

It's one of the few games where the "base" classes are just as fun as the hybrid classes
