Why does my Assassins Creed have dark souls combat now. I picked up a bow with faster draw speed, the thing literally fires like an automatic rifle, you just hold down the button and arrows rapid fire.

What is this game

I'm enjoying it, but I'm guessing that's because I haven't played an Assassin's Creed since Black Flag, so I'm not burnt out on it.

Cause it certainly seems like more of the same, just with slightly different combat.

Still getting used to the combat controls, they seem a bit wonky to me. I wish I could change the block to L2 on the dual shock, L1 just doesnt feel right.

This may be a bit of a spoiler but do you eventually get to assassinate enemies hidden blade style? Every time Ive done a stealth attack so far the dude just bonks them on the head and they fall down, but since theyre still alive I cant move their bodies.

I guess it makes sense since dead people are much lighter and easy to carry, but it isnt making the game fun so far.

afaik it's actually the very first hidden blade, ever, in the entire timeline, that you get

It's a shame. Syndicate went out of its way to revitalize my waning interest in the series, to the point where I was more into it than any point since Ezio's games. Then Origins came along to hold my interest's head under water until the bubbles stopped coming up.

Combined with the microtransaction bullshittery, and I have zero motivation to ever play the game, let alone pay for it.

Fantastic game, I think I'm around 900/1000 achievement point wise. Combat took awhile to get used to but then it clicked.

And yes you get a hidden blade towards the beginning of the main story.

Yeah, I was already weary of a game set primarily in a desert--seriously I had enough of them for a couple lifetimes, which doesn't help my disdain of FFXII in the slightest either--before I saw the nonsensical degree of microtransactions. Then I watched a few videos of gameplay (and story summary) on Youtube. Gods, I miss 2, Brotherhood, Black Flag, and Syndicate.

There's a lot of desert, not going to lie. But they do a decent job of adding color in where they can. There's oases, villages and small cities, pyramids, ruins, hills and mountains and valleys.. yeah, there's a lot of beige and brown, but there's a fair amount of color considering. There's large bodies of water, too. It's not as bland as you'd think. I actually find it rather pleasant.

Yeah the Microtransactions don't effect anything at all. Sure I'd rather not have them at all but everything can be earned in game and it's not a deal breaker.

I'm seeing a lot of hate in this topic for some odd reason. Of course opinions are subjective but I'd say Origins is the best AC game in the series. The extra year they took off seems to have paid off and I look forward to the sequels. If you haven't/don't enjoy AC games then this game won't change your opinion but if you do and you enjoy the Witcher also you should enjoy this.

I enjoy the story, find that this game has more character development than the rest, enjoy the improved side missions and love how alive the world feels. I also enjoy Senu rather than using Eagle Vision in past games and like how you can set your arrows on fire and whatnot. Hell the bow and arrow itself is a welcome edition and has many different types much like any weapon in the game. The game also stays fresh with events like the trial of the gods and DLC.

AC2 + Brotherhood and Black Flag still rank pretty high for me, although Black Flag feels more like a pirate game than an AC game, it's still really fun. Origins is right up there with those games imho. Really enjoyed it. Might go for the platinum, only a couple trophies to go but I'm having difficulty with those fucking elephants.

*affect
(Not that it truly matters, but still)

Also: That's basically a reason, to me, NOT to support the game. Syndicate was already bad with this in terms of money you can buy when you can earn money (and EASILY) in that game without paying for it. Spending real cash to expedite the process is not good game design. If I wanted that I would pay for something like Gameshark or Codebreaker, if anything of the like could work on current gen games, since those basically did the same thing (or more). But, I don't do even that, as tempting as it can be with RPGs that I play.

Ive seen it done well and Ive seen it done in a way that is exploitative and just not very fun.

As long as its done in a way that most players actually dont feel compelled to spend any money to progress then I think it is acceptable. It should just be there for individuals that arent interested in any grinding elements whatsoever in their games but still want to be completionists.

The game seems to have so many types of gear that I actually dont feel at all compelled to get any of the dlc packs. There is already enough.

Fair enough. I've never bought any of that shit. Hell I hardly even buy DLC so I understand where you're coming from. I still won't miss out on a great game because of these practices.

helIy posted...

Yes. You can buy shit off the store, buy loot boxes or you can do a daily quest where you get a random loot box for free. The daily quest loot box can contain stuff that you can buy on the store such as the nightmare pack, mummy outfit and so on. None of these items are a must have as the game already contains a shit load of items as it is but the option is there so eh.

Anyway, this is GOTY easily. It's the first AC game I didn't abandon from boredom about half way through. All the side quests have a story behind them and there's a ton of variety of things to do so it doesn't ever feel repetitive until about 60 hours in. You can finish the main quest long before that. Also, if you find video games repetitive, I don't recommend trying to 100% them.

Not exactly a ringing endorsement there. "It's not as bad as the rest of the series, so clearly it's game of the year".

Sure, they all have a story, but it's not like they're carefully crafted masterpieces. Every once in a while you come across a neat one, but I'm finding that most of them are just "Help! X person is lost. Go find them medjay!". And then I go find them, likely held captive in a stronghold or base of some sort.

Im having fun with it now but it doesnt compare to Breath of the Wild imo

One thing that annoyed me was the way the game starts SPOILERS

You kind of just get thrown into the game with no real idea who you are or what is going on your dude keeps talking about vengeance but you have no backstory or context of what your motivations are until youve done several missions and you finally see what the game really should have opened with

I HATED Unity. I don't think I have ever yelled "THIS GAME IS FUCKING BROKEN!!!" more at my screen then I did when playing Unity. And that was after it was all patched and "fixed". It wasn't so much the bugs as the game punished you for exploring, IN AN OPEN WORLD GAME, WHEN NO OTHER GAME IN THE FUCKING SERIES EVER DID!!! Oh you want to see what is in the next block? ENJOY DEATH DIP SHIT!!!!!

Syndicate was an improvement in every conceivable way, the only real problem I had with it was the achievement that took like 3 hours of repetitive running over shit in a cart to achieve.

Okay so like ubisoft totally stripped some things from MGSV

You have your birb fly around and mark everything just like you would with your binoculars, when you get spotted time slows down for a few seconds to give you a chance to avoid a full on alert, and you even can ride a horse

If Konami still made games I bet theyd be pretty mad
