Landlord John McGinn is getting a bit of stick over his yuletide pudding Santas Dick. Santas Dick is a festive version of a spotted dick, which replaces raisins with chunks of spiced apple.

McGinn, who runs the Dog in a Doublet pub in Peterborough with his wife Della, 47, created the dish years ago and has not received complaints before Ive been doing it for years almost a decade. Pub landlord insists Santa's Dick pudding 'fills a hole in lady's dessert market'

I thought there was a hole in the ladys dessert market that needed filling and I think Santas Dick does just that. The landlord has been rather taken aback by the reaction to his dish, especially given that spotted dicks are so common.

He told us: This dick is massive now. You go to to the supermarket and see Aunt Bessie is doing dick, you know, people are loving it. The reaction has been mainly good. Its been very tongue-in-cheek. Very Carry On-esque.

He did reveal that the complaints starting pouring in after the Santas Dick recipe featured in local magazine, The Fens. McGinn told Metro.co.uk: I do a column in a local magazine and got a few complaints from that.

Maybe its because its a free glossy so Santas Dick ended up being posted through their letter box.

Despite comments calling the pudding disgusting and comparisons to softcore pornography, McGinn standing by his dick and refusing to take it off the menu.

The Dog in a Doublet pub are also offering up Rudolphs Dick on their festive menu, which contains cherries.
