Longing and anticipation. Younger you couldnt wait to be done with school and grow up, etc. felt like forever. Older you basically has no immediate milestones to look forward to, or milestones you want to come right now. Trying to savor the current moment makes it feel quicker.

We measure the passage of time relative to out lifetimes thus far. Each year is a progressively smaller fraction of our total lives, so time feels like it moves faster with each year.
