I broke my S5 screen just the other day. Depending on whether a repair place can fix it and how cheap it is, I'll probably just buy a new one (thankfully they've gone down in price even since I just bought one in May).

I'm just gonna go through the insurance, pay the deductible and take the new phone to the provider to trade for a S8 Plus before I do anything with the new phone. It's the same cost per month.

i love the samsung galaxy series. before this i had a galaxy s7 edge. they run great and they aren't as locked down as iphones.

I had a Galaxy S5 for two years and thought it was basically just a really ugly iOS with a lot of lag and a bunch of unnecessary icons all over the place.

i feel like my phone was perfectly fine on ios 10. like, i didn't need or want a new phone, but because it updated on its own one night, now it runs very slow, and i'm being forced into buying one. i felt the same way last iphone i had as well. i didn't need a new one, it was fine, but apple felt that wasn't the case, ok?

i set an appt to go to tmobile after work and upgrade immediately to the S8 Plus since it's fresh. then i can use my old phone to transfer all my stuff over before i send the broken one back to the insurance company.

I drop my phone all the time and Ive never damaged the screen. My Apple Watch on the other hand, if I didnt have a screen protector that thing would be fucked up. Lol

i have a case on it yeah but it got crunched from the screen side.

i have only broken one other screen before on my htc one x like 4 years ago. sigh.

On a related note, does anyone know some good software to access files from a broken phone on your PC?

Ordinarily you could just plug it into the computer, but on my Galaxy S5 you have to manually select Media Transfer on the phone, which I can't do on a broken screen.

Pretty annoying Ziggi when you say ok at the end of what you say, ok?

Got my replacement phone, and there's noticeable burn-in on the screen. I'm considering sending it back for a different one, but I'm not really picky and don't need an absolutely perfect screen for any reason. Plus it's a lot of hassle and I just want to be done with this.
