I got into the Dark Souls series late and while invading/white phantoms aren't exactly scarce even in DS3 Ive never been able to experience the clusterfuck of a fresh souls launch rife with players. Really hoping that happens with the remaster.

It's a remaster, it'll just be enhanced graphics and performance with all DLC included.

I can't wait because I apparently missed a ton of commonly referenced stuff and never gave it a second playthrough. I want to go back with my current knowledge so I can truly absorb everything about the game.

Each game has its quirks and charms. Making it a DS1/DS3 hybrid would both be weird and ruin the "historical" experience.

I don't understand the desire for a remake/remaster of DS1/Demon's Souls. Each Souls game already hits a lot of the same beats and DS3 in particular was especially derivative, so if they just make a new Souls game (which they are already), it'll scratch the itch while also being new content.

I don't want them to waste time and resources on revisiting a game that came out last gen when they could be making new games with new ideas.

I mean I guess if you want to "enjoy" the terribly designed and imbalanced PvP in DS1 that's one thing, specific to it (though Bloodborne's is pretty terrible in its own ways). But the thing is, the main reasons DS1's PvP was like that was because they were less experienced back then and less inclined to patch the game a lot to try and polish it. If they remade it, or remastered it, it's very unlikely they'd keep it like that. DS1 was also the last of their games where they didn't try to seriously reign in the abusive behavior of invaders. The way people abused things in Demon's Souls and DS1 is why there were things like DS2's soul memory, Bloodborne's "you basically can't ever get invaded except in a couple places if you're not cooping and you can just kill an enemy to stop that" and DS3's "Invasions specifically target people summoning help exclusively and there's clumsy weapon reinforcement matchmaking"

If they remastered DS1 and polished these flaws, I suspect there'd be a big outcry about how it was "casualized" or watered down because there's a very vocal subset of the community that thinks DS1 is some holy grail of perfection, revering even the glitches.

I think FromSoftware mentioned they're done with the Dark Souls IP for now. A remaster is a lot less resources, I'd imagine, such that they can swing it while still working on other projects.

That being said I agree with you and I'm ravenous for more of the formula. I'd take Bloodborne 2 or a new IP.

The original is the only one not on a modern platform and a lot of people want to revisit it because they don't want to bother with the technical limitations after being spoiled by SotFS, BB, and 3.

I get why people want a Bloodborne 2 as well but I think that would actually be a letdown. Very likely anyway.

A lot of the impact of Bloodborne was how fresh it felt, and kind of surprising. I don't see that same impact happening if we just got another game that is kinda doing the same general stuff, just with new places/enemies but overall the same feel.

But it's possible. I just see them needing to kinda...wow/surprise again. If it was the same general idea/story, that would kinda just be "Bloodborne: another one" but if they took it somewhere further, like if part of the game actually took place on an alien planet you travel to through some hidden underground gateway, that'd be pretty cool for a surprise and way to mix things up.

I suspect their next game is gonna be a new IP though. From what I vaguely recall of what they said of it, it sounded like it was going to be "different" in some sort of way, so probably not a sequel. Another Bloodborne instead in the sense of it being like a spinoff concept that uses the same general "engine" or gameplay style, but in a different world.

DS1 kinda had a hint of Bloodborne, with Chester in the DLC. I wonder if DS3's DLCs hide a similar hint to what the new IP will be.

Chester stood out as a pretty odd duck. If I went with that logic of what stood out to me the most as odd in the DS3 DLCs, I'd end up thinking the new Souls game would be some merger of Souls and King's Field. Which seems...unlikely.

The unfortunate realisation is if you ignore them in Bloodborne, it really highlights how small the game is. It suffers a lot from being their first game on a new console gen. >_>

Have they actually outright said they're making a new Armored Core? I thought all that was said was that a new game in an old series, which could be Tenchu. >_>

Yeah, they are the publisher and developer for armored core. They are likely done with games they dont publish, so no more original DS or B.B.
