The X-Files: Which is the best season?

I haven't really finished the show yet so I'm not going to make a judgement call, but IMO Season 6 was pretty strong even though it did build a lot of weird romantic tension. For the better part of 2017 and some of this year I've been working through the first couple seasons. Currently on Season 7, Episode 4. I don't really care about spoilers though unless it's the most recent episode/season because people are obviously currently watching that.

Anyways, Which is the best season of The X-Files?

I have favorite episodes from throughout the series except maybe the very last few seasons.... but the average quality of Season 3 is astoundingly good.

2, 3, or 6. I voted 6 because its the most experimental and has some of my favorite episodes like Field Trip, Arcadia, and Dreamland.

but 4 has Paper Hearts, Small Potatoes and Musings of a Cigarette Smoking Man.

but 5 has Bad Blood, The Post-Modern Prometheus and The Pine Bluff Variant.

but 6 has Monday, The Unnatural and Arcadia.

but 7 has Je Souhaite, Hollywood A.D., and The Goldberg Variation.

but 8 has ...ok, so 8s not that great (namesake epidode notwithstanding.)

Not really, I was into it when I was watching it but once I stopped that was it. It's been a year now since I finished, I don't remember much in terms of seasons. I can name a few episodes but they're pretty much the classics that everyone names. The rest of it is just this vague collection of moments, I couldn't name the episodes they were from. That doesn't help TC of course.

Other people ITT seem to know more about this than me.

damn

i thought you were a super fan
the way you would talk about the whole was kinda cute

rip xfiles lev

Do you admit that Supernatural is better :^)

Definitely agree on the myth arc compared to supernatural. It doesn't really get a hook in you and really doesn't make most viewers want to continue watching for it but on the flip side it isn't peppered with obnoxious/overdone cliffhangers. That said, most of the reason I'm still watching is for the monster of the week and experimental type episodes. I wouldn't go so far to say that the main story sucks or is flat out bad, just that it has been okay.

Tough to say... to be honest, I didn't really care about the show's central arc, like... at all. The standalone/monster-of-the-week episodes & creep factor are what I mostly found enjoyable, so when the show started to get more lighthearted & focused on the main storyline, I pretty much crapped out altogether (I think I watched until late S6?).

Season 1 had the best element of mystery... but it also had quite a few D-tier & F-tier episodes; I mean, all the seasons I watched had a least a couple F-tier ones, but S1 seemed particularly rife with them - at the moment, I can't think of a worse television episode than 'Space'.

...

It's one of the first four, anyways.

Depends, i mainly like it for the standalone eps. Those are fantastic, overall storyline is ok first 4/5 seasons.
