80/80

It feels like those Do You Like topics are entirely dependent on if you politically agree with the user.

Do you really only dislike a user if you disagree with the politically? Even if they're otherwise a good/decent/normal person? Or like them if you're on the same political side, even if they might be a huge jerk or a blatant troll?

It seems like the Admiral, gunplagirl, southcoast, and averagejoel polls really exemplify this.

I don't like Admiral or averagejoel because of their personalities, their politics don't really factor into it.

not at all

if anything they are evidence that it doesn't matter your political stance, when you're disrespectful to other users people dislike you

Your examples seem to prove that political identity doesn't matter.

gunpla is a super liberal and is loathed by pretty much everyone for example, regardless.

and then there is me who tries to be respectful and nice but is still hated just cause of perceived political differences, some of which don't even exist.

Pretty much.

Like you said, if you are toxic/hostile person... then people won't like you regardless of any affiliations you have to them.

I don't necessarily agree with the logic (as each of these posters are relatively fringe, so if users were voting based on "do I agree with their political opinions?" they would all still demonstrate low likability). But mostly I think that these two things probably go hand in hand. Posters with extreme political views are more likely to be obnoxious, and often focused, only posting their political rhetoric. I find anyone who posts only about politics to be annoying, need a little bit more meat so that the discussion goes somewhere.

Admiral seems to be a glaring exception tho

a lot of people like him because he's hostile to users they disagree with, not in spite of.

People claim to like negi and hoth because of similar reasons as well though, so.. eh.
