Looking to sell my PS2 games, and i'm looking up some prices. It looks like some games are hard to find (Shadow Hearts 1, Wild Arms 5, Xenosaga 3 go for pretty high prices).

But I'm looking at Haunting Ground and everything I've found online shows it selling for over $100, even without disc/manual. I don't have a manual unfortunately, but still.

Kind of tangentially related, but years ago I saw a YouTube video about a guy who wondered if he could single-handedly artificially inflate the price of a game. So he found a game that was generally going for $2-5, bought every single copy that went up on eBay over a period of time, and then put them all back on at increasing prices, and not only successfully elevated the price/demand for the game in question, but now, years later, the price CONTINUES TO RISE. The game in question was Rampart on the original GameBoy.

To the point, without knowing too much about Haunting Ground, I wonder if it's some relatively common game that the demand suddenly shot way up for?

i think i will keep xenosaga 3 forever though.

This also reminds me when I found two copies of Dragonball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 2 and at the time it was going for around $100. Looks like it's down to a reasonable price now. Glad I cashed in.

As far as sites, I've always used ebay/Amazon for prices. Can't imagine any site being better at valuing a game since those would have the biggest audiences. Except if there's only a couple copies available.

it turns out absolutely no one is selling star ocean 3 on ebay

i'd post the list of prices i gave this guy on resetera, but i think that's against the rules right

Thats exactly what i would do with enchanting mats on the auction house in WoW. It was time consuming to corner the market but you end you dramatically changing the price people expect to pay for something.

btw the answer to this is no. I think it was always a niche game that came out fairly late into the ps2 lifecycle and had a very limited print. it also seems to be a cult favorite.

I remember we got that game like 6 or 7 years ago back when we had PS2 games and it was like 20 bucks

I didn't really have the money (THIS IS BEFORE THE MANAGER BIG BUCKS)

but I remember thinking I've never seen this game before and I might not see it again

but alas I passed it up

then yea....100+ bucks now

Haunting Ground is one of those gothic cult classics, along with the original Clock Tower and Rule of Rose. I'd love to have it or at least play it one day.

I found https://www.pricecharting.com/

Apparently I have over $1250 worth of NES games. Yay for keeping the box/manuals that apparently go for more then the games.

Horror games, Rpgs, Nintendo games, and weird Japanese games seem to hold their value better than most other games.

I like Pricecharting.com a lot for seeing WHICH games are more valuable than others. It is very reliable in that way. For exact prices you can expect to buy or sell a game for, though, you can't really beat looking at sold prices on ebay. After all, a game is only truly worth what someone is willing to pay for it.
