i can't remember where i saw this recommended, but it works really well so i'm passing it on. i just salvaged some parts from another laptop so here's a potato pic demonstrating the best way to keep your screws from getting lost/mixed up:

i do this maybe once every two years (i just have a few laptops to go through) so buying an extra product to make it happen without being a headache doesn't make much sense. i will say though that's awesome someone came up with that for people that frequently repair electronics.

When I used to take apart laptops I would use a big piece of tape looped together, stuck on the desk on one side and stuck the screws on the other.

At my current job we simply buy the 5 year pro support and a tech comes out and does the work if hardware has gone bad. Much more ideal.
