I respect but don't love altman.

Lynch is very very good
Bergman is one of the greats
i respect Lucas for creating Sw, but he's just not a good director.

Only seen one LVT film and it was meh.

have no clue who JCM is.

David Lynch is one of my favorite directors. Bergman has some stuff I love and a lot I'm indifferent towards. I've only seen The Long Goodbye and California Split from Altman, but both are pretty great. From Von Trier I've only seen Riget (good) and Dancer in the Dark (mediocre), and I don't have any great desire to explore him further.

George Lucas... He's directed, what, 6 features? I've only seen the Star Wars films. The first one is good.

It's good to see there are still a few film buffs on CE. Shame that nobody knows who Mitchell is. Think Hedvig and the Angry Inch, and Shortbus.
