Ah, that was good fun! In addition to my regular gaming, I did plenty of speedrunning, and it was an excellent test of skill (and stamina). It was basically Super Mario 64, Super Mario Galaxy 1, Super Mario Sunshine, and Banjo-Kazooie. Some of my runs weren't amazing, but I remember getting my SMG 1 speedrunning very fast, i.e. under 10 hours, and my B-K speedrunning extremely fast, i.e. under 3 and a half hours. It does take a lot of patient and focus, though, and early speedruns can be disheartening (lol). The best games are probably the long and complex ones, and also non-linear, so you can find lots of different routes and more efficient ways of doing things.

Are you part of the speedrunning scene? Have any times you want to share with us? :D

I think Super Mario Oddysey and BotW would be great games to speedrun. Not 100%, but completion speedruns. I reckon a good time for Oddysey would be about 3 and a half hours, and an excellent time, 2 hours, maybe? As for Zelda, I dunno. Even beating the four divine beasts, the final boss, and of course doing the Great Plateau at the beginning would take quite some time, especially if you don't build up your character first. Hmm. Maybe 5 hours for an excellent speedrun? I'm not sure.

I get that a lot on CE.

But why is CE suddenly anti-speedrun? I think most serious gamers should do SOME speedrunning, since it's so skillful and competitive.

Damn. I just realised, for completing BotW, you can (in theory) go straight to the final boss. I guess you can just skip the four divine beasts. Although the final boss with hardly any equipment and with only 4 hearts would be extremely hard.

According to a major speedrunning website, the record for an any % speedrun is about 1 hour and a 5 minutes.

Whatever site you're looking at is outdated, since the record for BOTW Any% is under 40 minutes.

Anyway, speedrunning is something I will probably never do. It just doesn't appeal to me whatsoever. But they're pretty fun to watch.

I think the World Record for 100%ing it is still about 35 hours, which is crazy for an 100% speedrun of any game. BotW is beyond massive.

Wasn't that the same time when you were reading one book per week and also writing a book?

Slightly after. In 2011 I read *two* books a week, on average, and was also writing something. My postmodern novel, I think. Good memory, thiough, scar the 1.

Oh alright, thanks. I knew it was some time around there.
