He looked like he was in rural Montana watching the sunset as he mentioned, no gauntlet present. Does this mean that he'll be passive for Infinity War 2 until the Avengers get too far ahead?

That's the end of the infinity gauntlet comic.

It's a little ahead of schedule but that's why it was put in there.

It means he's probably trapped in an illusion set by either the time stone when Strange gave it to him, or the mind stone with Vision's consciousness inside it.

EDIT: Probably the latter of the 2 options since IIRC that would let him effectively take Adam Warlock's spot in the comic story.

Mission accomplished.

So he is relaxing.

His whole goal was to make it that every planet would look like that because resources would be plentiful if he succeeded.

Well, in the comic that's what really happened.

Also, I doubt he's just going to be passive for a little while. From the look of things, his mission's over. I think A4 will take a time skip where the heroes try to get their bearings but for Thanos, its over. he doesn't have much to do otherwise.

Now that I thought about it, I wish they explained who the Dark Order were in the show rather than make them appear like simple leaders of Thanos' army.

*has never read the comics*

So does that mean there will be another villain in the way for most of Avengers 4 then? What, are they gonna assault his farm for the climax battle scene?

The end credits have "Thanos will return" so he'll still be the main villain for sure.

Either he'll figure out they're gonna undo what he accomplished and he'll try and stop them or they'll time travel and fight him in the past.

Pretty sure they might change it or there could be something else. I think Thanos will return. its possible that the movie will start with the characters trying to retrieve the gems or whatever.

I reread the last few pages of the comic. There was another tiny detail I forgot about.

when Nebula has the Gauntlet, it gets damaged just like the movie as well shortly before she loses it
