I played XC2 before XC1. it has become apparent that i need to play xc1 asap.

any pointers going in? i've heard that the UI is clunkier than XC2s, and that the sidequest system is more confusing.

i'm playing the 3ds version, if it matters.

Eh, XB2's UI is probably just as clunky when you consider the stuff XB2 adds while cleaning up/streamlining the old gameplay system. Once you go through XB1 settings to hide some default stuff though of course.

basically just uh view side-quests passively, for the most part they autocomplete whenever you end up picking up the items or killing whatever. They're basically an alternative to grinding, which means if you focus on them too much you can pretty easily overlevel yourself anyhow so take it easy.

The trickiest part of the game is when it first demands you to execute the combo systems. You should have no problem with it due to XB2.

The inventory system kinda sucks and navigating side quests isnt done well. But just dont stress about sidequests toooo much

The fact that there are no Quest markers is insane. Especially when you tasked with finding a guy who only stands in a dark alleyway between the hours of 1 and 2 a.m.

Learn the nuances of the combat and try various characters and builds. It's one of the best parts of the game.

It's all cool down based so it's all about coordinating abilities for maximum burst damage and synergy. Healing is not crucial, dps and defense/evasion are the goal. XB2 is prob like that too.

Don't obsess over side quests, just collect a bunch and then go to regular stuff and you will naturally complete most of them. You can do some of the story side quests if you really like an area but don't get burned out there.

The story is literally epic so it changes a lot throughout. Don't stop early if you're not into it.

You can mess with the camera and field of view a lot in the settings. I had to fine tune it to the way I wanted before I was happy.

what's killing me is that some of these people look like they're around for very specific times. i think I'm not gonna bother searching them out, but if i see one of those godforsaken exclamation points i will at least accept.

are there any important missable quests or items?

thank god most of these quests are completed automatically if you meet the goals, at least...

Missable quests will have a red clock symbol to show they're only available for so long. None of the missable quests have important stuff attached to them. And any important items from places that become inaccessible can be obtained in other ways.

If you want to be really hardcore and fill out the affinity chart to the best of your abilities, you have to follow every npc around for the whole day, talking to them again every time they move, because sometimes they only say the thing that will update their relationship to someone else during the short time they're walking from one location to another. And then you gotta do it again every time you finish a quest that could relate to those people.

This is the correct way to think about Xenoblade 1 sidequests

i will say this

these character models look weird in a way only the wii made possible. half these characters have no chin and weird necks. xb2 models are a HUGE step up, regardless of how you feel about the switch to anime waifu mode

yeah that's always been the case unarguably, so I do dream a bit of XB1 with XB2 quality assets... but then I'm dying for new XB games and they ain't got time for remaking yet!

although I somehow do like XB1 Shulk's model more than Smash Bros Shulk's model somehow... it just feels off

after sorting out some stuttering issues (turns out ubershaders are super strenuous even on a decent PC like mine), i recruited sharla.

i love the female sniper archetype so i tried to use her... but she's totally a support role. guess she's gonna be AI.

also she's not really wasting any time to grieve for her missing fiance to hit on reyn twice in like 5 minutes. reyn even says "am I your replacement guy" lmao

No, but on 3DS with 3D on, jumping/falling from high places gave me a small sense of falling in real life. Not really sure what word I would use to describe the feeling.
