All the storytelling nuance present in Connor's sections goes out the window in Marcus's second half of the game.

This is the first game to actually make me hate David Cage, and this is supposed to be him being more hands off with the writing.

It is pretty solid, it has good, memorable characters and a decent plot. Has quite a few intense moments. I would say it's a good game.

Maybe it's not a good civil rights allegory, but I don't really care about that, I don't think most do.

The first chapter is a Connor(android detective) one right? He gets way better parts than the other two playable characters.

Heavy Rain had some great moments.

Beyond Two Souls is a candidate for the worst game I have ever completed.

I spent like the last two hours of it just going "Why am I still playing this shit?" and not being able to answer.

Connor and Hank are legitimately the best part of the game. Best performances, best interactions, best choices, best philosophy.

Anything to do with Kara or Markus is heavy-handed racial allegory that is so sloppy that the allegories themselves fall apart despite the bare-faced attempts to make them.

The way I see it is this:

If someone intentionally puts in any allegory, whether racial or a comment on society/the economy, it's always going to be sloppy and forced.

If a work is truly groundbreaking, then it won't even touch on racial issues as they aren't part of the big picture. They're more about the human condition as a whole and are more versatile in their meaning.

Of course, people are always gonna cherry pick to make a game/book/movie seem like an "amazing example at how ____ is portrayed/misrepresented/blah blah blah in our society"

Idk. I'm not a fan of bottom of the barrel issues like race, society, guns, govt, etc since they're all things we made up and won't affect the human condition in the long run.

detroit is a fantastic game.

There's a part of the game where you can make "I CAN'T BREATHE, BUT I'M ALIVE" your android freedom slogan.

You don't even have to agree with BLM to admit Cage has no interest in racial tensions, he's just using them as a crutch to prop up his shitty writing.

Indigo showed a bunch of potential and shat the bed hardcore.

Heavy Rain's actually pretty good overall with some really bad voice acting in places and huge gaping plot holes/lies.

Beyond is trash with some fun moments. It's like playing at a dump.

The part where the police are surrounding you and you use your sick ghost powers to crash helicopters is like the coolest scene in a QD game. And like every other good moment in that game, it's only cool until the player realizes there is no fail state so there is no actual tension.
