This would be a logistical nightmare. Who gets what areas? How are the people that are displaced compensated? What about families that have different views? Perhaps, most importantly, who pays for it all? Something like this would cost trillions of dollars, and both (new countries) would face at least a decade of economic crisis. I'm not even factoring in the eventual war between the two.
Honestly, we are better together. The two sides keep each honest. Go too far in either direction, we all lose. The balance of power swings back and forth, as it always has. Sure, we are divided now, and we have been before. It will be okay. It's just a rough patch. We will eventually find compromise.
