Are you kidding? VLR is incredible!! And yes the paths seem daunting at first but most endings provide some form of meaningful information to piece together the whole story and everyones backstory

I just can't get into it. I actually would say hate the rabbit guy. Definitely not as good of a character as the gas mask dude from the first one. I usually play it with my girlfriend and we both lost interest pretty early on. We'll probably give it a go in another month or two though.

He takes a backseat later on in the game. He's actually rather forgotten about halfway through.

In VLR, there are two main endings at the polar ends of the path routes, both canon, among them is the Old Akane ending where you play as Kyle, but not really Kyle, you're "?" who is inhabiting Kyle's body. Kyle's consciousness had transferred over to the beginning of ZTD as you play that ending and Akane confirms this to you.

Fast forward to ZTD's release and people find out a good number of plot points were dropped as well as the introduction of numerous plot holes. But the most glaring dropped plot point is what is mentioned above. It was such a big outrage that Uchikoshi tried to brush it off by saying oh, that ending in VLR was actually non-canon. But he knows he screwed up on ZTD. That's why we didn't have a Q&A session for this title like we did for the previous titles, he would never get the end of all the faults and screwups he made in ZTD. So when people ask that question I mentioned in that previous post, it's practically the culmination of "We will not let you get away with what you did in ZTD!" and as such he'll feel ashamed and embarrassed accordingly.

I'm glad it's a new series. I did like VLR enough to consider it an end, and I'd rather them move on than try to cover up missing parts (basically Kyle/???).

The spike penetrating Spike Chunsoft's head is a reference to Phineas Gage, a peculiar case where he was impaled through the head and lost his left eye in the process (same position of Date's artificial eye). Among the consequences of surviving this near fatal accident, his personality had a drastic change to the point where his friends deemed him not that Gage they used to know.
