I felt really good to be honest.

Financially I was in a good spot, so bills and stuff were no issue. I also didn't have much stuff on me, mostly clothes and some other stuff, but nothing major.

But I was happy to leave home (I got out of a shitty situation), so pretty much anything is an upgrade from that. Luckily, I moved out to live together with my then girlfriend (now wife).

Well it was either I stay with my parents and move 7 hours away to Memphis or move half an hour with two local friends. Little anxious since it was my first time truly being away from my parents for more than a week. Rent was worked out to $200 a month since the house was owned by a friend's parents. No need to pay utilities so I was well off living there until her parents flipped out over the house being "filthy" because a cup was on the counter instead of in the sink... Ended up moving out of there within a year since the parents were legitimately crazy and were abusive to their daughter. Waking up to the mother and daughter having screaming matches weekly was getting out of hand.

idk went into the military so I lived in the barracks for the first two years I moved out. Felt about the same, except I had to keep my stuff clean.

i was able to transition into being "on my own" because my parents paid my room/board/bills/food while i was in college, which i think helped a lot. i wasn't fully paying my own bills / etc until i had a full-time position.

Excited. It was something I planned. It kind of just happened. I went from living with my mom to owning a house >_>. 5 years later and I been able to always pay my bills myself. Them summer taxes make me have to borrow from my mommasohn at times.

I didn't feel much of anything because I moved into a house like 5 doors down. I still saw my parents almost every day.

I was nervous and didn't even sleep the first night.

I was not financially secure. never have been. I simply finally had my turn come up on a waiting list for government housing. my parents thought that I need to be more independent even if I am still a neet. at least having my own place is something they want me to do.

also I was 26 so I had been way too used to living with my parents. and it was a huge change for me.

The first night was weird because I was sleeping somewhere new but all my stuff was there.

Laundry and cleaning came fairly easy but cooking was not my strong suit. I remember lots of meals of baked chicken breast, rice and baby carrots. Or spaghetti with a jar of sauce and no veggies.

If you live in government housing, you're not independent and it's not your own place.
