I have one now. I don't think there's a better plan out there for me. You can't beat $7 a month, I just bought a nice phone off Amazon and made sure it was compatible with the sim card.

I get the 3 month card (in store) for $20.

The only problem I have is there is no unlimited data.

I don't use my current cell phone (T-Mobile ZTE) enough to warrant paying something like $40 or more a month for an AT&T or Verizon cell phone. unlimited would be nice but I don't really need it I could just turn on Wi-Fi and connect to a hotspot so I don't have to use data to look up my email and search the web and gaming right?

The only thing I can't do out of the house is stream music and youtube videos. Otherwise, the amount of data you get is fine for browsing and checking e-mail.

If you're not constantly texting and calling people there's no way you can use that up either. I would never use a T-Mobile/Verizon plan, that would just be a waste of money to me.

$20 for three months. I actually rounded up, I pay $6.67 a month.

Coverage is actually pretty good. I was just up in the Smokies two weeks ago, I was the only one getting data.

I recommend everyone check out the prepaid phone section of their grocery store.

Wanna bet? ISP's and phone companies exist to steal every cent they can. A big reason why I don't have one is I'm not going to pay to play their game. Being THAT cheap has to have something wrong with it. You know what I mean. 'Too good to be true' or 'get what you pay for' kinda crap, like when you find $5 games on Ebay but they're bootlegs.

I used to have Tracfone before I got my first smartphone in 2014. Well technically, I was using Net10 with my first one. I believe Net10 is just like Tracfone really, which also includes StraightTalk at Walmarts, Telcel too. Which also includes similarities with BoostMobile, Virgin Mobile, and Black Wireless.

I guess they're more or less the same kind of plans that involved prepaid, pay-as-you-go plans. My phone before my smartphone used SafeLink Wireless, pretty cheap considering. I don't remember how much a month though, cause it was so long ago since I used tracfone/tracfone-like plans. They're not that bad really.

My only gripe with Net10 was the call quality, but most cell phone plans have terrible coverage in my area, so eh. But for 40$/50$ unlimited everything up to 2.5Gigs was great at the time.

https://electronics.costhelper.com/phone-line.html

Basic phone service that includes unlimited local calls generally cost $15-$30 per month, depending on additional features.

https://www.tracfone.com/shop/plans

$125.00 per year, or $10.50 per month (less if you auto-refill). Plus you can take it with you, and emergency calls are still free

Took me 5 minutes.

The companies want money for their service. Companies like tracfone are like the last ditch way for them to get money. It's not a scam, there's no big catch, it's just a company getting a lil more money by charging less.
It's like discounted surplus product essentially. If they can sell it without it going to waste, then it's all a bonus on what would have been lost anyways.

1) Yahoo? What is this 1996? No one uses Yahoo anymore.

2) If you actually read the article, it is in FAVOR of landlines. If anything, they are probably low balling the cost (which is more likely given that landlines in my area cost upwards of $50 a month WITH a cable and Internet bundle)

3) Tracphone is not a "low end phone", it is a pay-as-you-go option for people who don't use their phone enough to warrant having a full unlimited plan. You can use any cellphone with it. Plus, it actually uses the same networks as Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint (The 4 major carriers in the country).

4) It is available at every Walmart and Dollar General, far from "not available to most".

5) I gave as much effort as was needed to systematically destroy your argument. Anymore would just be me killing time I could be spending doing something else.

6) "Everybody disagrees with me so I must be the only person on this board who is not a troll!"

7) As for your last question: Everyone but you I would guess?

I really need to look into them. Do they use Verizon's network?

Need a company that does, w/o actually being Verizon, b/c I'm sick of paying $80 a month for 700 min of talk, no text, no data (shared between 2 phone lines). Been getting ripped off for years...

At what point did you look at that and go "That's a good fucking deal right there!"

Never said it was a good deal. It was the cheapest plan I could get w/ Verizon. In fact, it's discontinued now and apparently we're "grandfathered in." As soon as one of our phones die, we'll be forced to get the new plan, which is $10 more per month but includes 1000 free texts (but I don't text, so that's worthless to me) if we want to buy a new phone to use on with Verizon (even paying full price and not getting a 2 year plan...I was actually going to get new phones last year and have never seen a salesperson unintentionally talk me out of a purchase so adroitly).
Unfortunately, if I'm not on the Verizon network, I don't get reliable phone reception where I am. Period.
I've tried looking into MVNOs, but most use Sprint's network.

Going back to the previous answer it's not an apples to apples comparison.
Wally is an hour away and I dunno about Dollar General.
I'm still waiting for you to do so, ya got a couple days yet.
Nobody is disagreeing with me though. A few low cards are trying to jump on your wagon but they fall under the 'half the people online are idiots' group.
You'd be wrong again. At least you're consistent.

So in other words I am right because you can't be assed to prove me wrong?

You have yet to provide any evidence to the contrary so my point is still the correct one. Ball is in your court.

I skimmed it. Yeah, YOUR area not all areas.

that link isn't indicative towards one area over another, it's an aggregation.

aside from that, they're also at most drugstores, gas stations, grocery stores, ect. they're everywhere. they aren't rare.

he's not.

tell us what you're paying for having a bundled landline phone, please.

if i get any more bored, i'll go back and dig up the post where you thought having a cell phone plan for one person cost over $200 a month.

you need to stop posting.

I'm painfully aware that smart phones can be had for cheaper now...

you could probably find some clearanced in stores, or try amazon. if you're real desperate you could probably get one on ebay for pennies.

Nobody uses Google anymore.

See, this is why you're always going to be wrong. You're manufacturing 'proof'. Why aggregate landlines but not cell phones? Then because different areas offer different pricing I'm not sure you'll ever get a fair comparison. Again this is why I allowed a week.

The lot of you trolls are just going to twist the info enough to convince yourselves you have a point. My original statement that there's a catch for the $7 deal was correct - you don't keep the time you pay for. Now ya'll look stupid. Enjoy.

i mean i can literally show you how to get a smartphone, for free, that you don't have to pay a dime for, that gets 500 minutes, unlimited texts, and 1-2gb of data, a month, for free.

but then again you'd just move the goalposts again, wouldn't you.
notice how that isn't a question.

that's aside from the fact that landline service doesn't tend to fluctuate in price very much, or often.

that's even ignoring the fact you refuse to tell us what, exactly, you pay for landline service when bundled. i wonder why that is, especially when your entire argument hinges on knowing that number.

yes. you tend to stop being able to use a service when you stop paying for it. this is generally how utilities and other services work in the world.
