Comic buffs, what are your thoughts? What's the consensus in the community? Well-written? Preachy? Pointless?

She was introduced in 2002 as Sooraya Qadir, a niqab-wearing Afghani girl that the X-Men saved from slave traders. She has the power to turn into a raging dust storm.

I'm sure there were some grumblings when she was introduced, but I can imagine a huge shitshow if she was introduced now.
