How about getting a job that doesn't focus on hours?

There are other people who will get that low-wage "unskilled" hourly job afterwards, because the job's necessary, but not valued enough for the people who do it to not live in poverty.

technically you are supposed to get overtime if your salary is under a certain amount. but they never pay anyone under that amount so they still avoid the overtime

Um, if I worked less hours, that would kind of invalidate at least a portion of the pay raise. As it stands, our store is trying to maximize everyone's hours, but that means less staff at any one time, which hurts productivity, which could lead to us being punished with a further cut in hours. You know, because somehow that will make us work better or something. Fucking suits, man.

This is bigger than me or any one person and should not be stood for. Yeah, I'll have more money and a better job some day, and someone else will get fucked over. I might still be getting fucked over wherever I am, just at a lower level.

Also, I am not currently working less hours, but that could change if our productivity drops and they punish us
