I don't see Missingno. or L-block winning these matches. Once the hype around their initial big wins wore off they seemed comparatively toothless without a major 4chan rally and Dante and Kefka don't strike me as particularly good opponents to get 4chan frothing at the mouth. I remember them liking Dante pretty well, so if he was struggling they might actually help him, like how they sided with Mega Man over Charizard.

I feel a bit down on some characters (Like the Portal group) just because a lot has changed in five years and games and characters decline as they lose relevance (Like how the strength between 08-13 has changed for some characters listed), but that's probably just me thinking that

This inspired me to try to figure out what would have been the consensus predictions for the 2010 bracket using only stats from 2005 and earlier as if there had been no contests in between. I was going to point out how useless the old stats would have been, but they're surprisingly decent. Charizard is the only character in the final 16 that wouldn't have been favored to get there, and most of the incorrect predictions either involved new characters or weren't correctly called by B8 even with three extra contests of data.

Yeah, I don't think things change that much over the years. You have outliers like Pokemon's resurgence or CT's revival last time, but those are generally exceptions.

Now of course, a lot of these characters are so close together so that who wins could change year by year because of random variance and small changes, but yeah.
