I tried to get into WO3, but so many of the levels felt like they were not designed to be played alone. It was a lot of "protect these 2 characters or you fail!" and then they would be on opposite ends of the map. And if you fail, you lose all the XP you got

Not the failing part, but some characters are intended to fall in battle so you can go through time to a side scenario that sets it up so that you can succeed in rescuing them the second go around. --- ...
