There is no ruling of "innocent" in court and "not guilty" does not necessarily mean total innocence.

Because you're presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Let's say you witnessed a murder, but for whatever reason... I think you were involved. Alright then, you are guilty... have fun in jail. Wait, no... how about you are innocent until I can prove that you are guilty. There. /topic. Does it always work out? A pre-existing assumption of guilt would not allow for a fair trial, as the jury would inevitably apply selection bias to the evidence.
