Beginner is pretty easy. Locks you out of trophies and certain endings in some of the games. Normal can be challenging in a few boss fights, but if they're just in it for the story and cameos, then Beginner is fine. Would not recommend Proud/Critical/Expert.

Beginner: too easy.
