I've spent a few hours on them, and didn't even come close to the par scores. Of course, it didn't help that I only had one skull to help, which didn't give me a multiplier, and when I went after 2 other skulls, based on a video FAQ, and one wouldn't appear, and the other I couldn't get to.

Sigh. Even when I played pretty well, without skulls, I couldn't do very well with the score. This was annoying. It's still nice to play some Halo, of course, especially after it's been quite a while.

On Normal and above, it's easier to achieve, but it also depends on speed. At 15 min on Sierra 117, you lose your 3x score multiplier, and it drops every 5 mins. I always try and work around a certain time frame

A easy skull to get is the Thunderstorm and IWHBYD one in the level The covenant, both are very easy to obtain

My usual skull setup is; Iron, Thunder Storm, Fog, IWHBYD, Cowbell, and the one that increases enemy health

Did you play on Legendary? And yeah Thunderstorm and Mythic were two skulls I always turned on. They add a bit more of a challenge but aren't totally disruptive like some of the other skulls.

I know for all the MCC score achievements, I didn't even need to turn any skulls on. I got most of them just by playing Legendary. I think the only one I came up short on was Crow's Nest, which I redid later. I may have turned on a skull or two for that attempt, but I don't remember.
