Realistically, I would guess that social media will be the next big frontier. When they gave up hope of holding a majority in congress they put their faith in the supreme court, thinking that if they can get that they can push their agenda without congress at all. With that fight over, they know they can't just bypass congress to get what they want, and they can't get congress to pass the laws they want, so the next rational step is controlling the message in social circles. If they can double-down on internet censorship, they can try to shape the discussion of issues over the next decade by choking out the opposing position's ability to speak in the hopes that a groundswell shift in opinion will catch politicians off guard the way Bernie almost did.

Facebook is "good for Breitbart". Because there are a thousand articles criticizing him and his views and nobody as far as I can tell is defending him.

Also also because, to use the exact words of the article you linked to that I'm sure you read, it's not isolated to the right:

Blue states will harden and Democratic governors will channel their inner Jerry Brown, openly defy Trump and test the limits of states' rights in court.
