It might sound like overkill but I use the app every single day so it is not a problem to help pay the dev for their work. Ultra is set up to be a reoccurring charge as the features included in the update require active servers. As a first week promotion $20 covers a lifetime subscription to said features and I hate reoccurring fees with a passion, so win - win.

The update isn't even really that crazy, it's just some over the top features like themes, icons, fancier notifications and shit. The app without ultra is still the best reddit app on iOS imo.

Have you ever purchased a mobile app that wasn't a game of some kind? What was it and why did you think it was valuable enough to pay for?

I did fall into the microtransaction gap with one game, but got out with less than $100 wasted. Haven't made the same mistake again. I'll pay a couple of bucks for actual extra content or to remove ads, but that's it.

I paid for swiftkey because it's a great keyboard. Was like 2-3 bucks.

Glad you got some use out of it. This was actually one purchase I ended up making based on all the positive feedback from people but didn't end up using.

Different strokes, etc. I'm sure it's a solid option otherwise everyone wouldn't be talking it up all the time.

Good choice.
I got it for free as one of amazon's free app of the day deal a while back, but I totally would have paid for it otherwise, it's the best keyboard around.
I paid for a calendar widget in the past, all the free ones sucked and the one I liked most was worth the $2 it cost me.

Yeah, for me the main issue is advertising. If a product I use daily offers a paid option I will use it.

I also paid for the Runtastic Pushups Pro app to train with and use it every day, well worth $2 with no ads.
