All their devices need to make the move to USB-C. They're gonna lose a shit ton of money, but it's the right thing to do. Have some uniformity.

If I could carry around two charging cables (one as backup) for everything in my bag my obsession with minimizing dongles and cables would be satiated tbh.

With the way they've been pricing the MacBook Pro I don't have much faith that they will come in at a reasonable price.

Also they waited way too long to do a Mac Mini refresh, so I hope this materializes.

I wonder what new things they will come up with to fleece their customers.

I'm personally hoping for more convenient upgrades with the ecosystem to trap me in complacency.

I'm becoming obsessed with Apple products despite never changing my stance that, by and large, they're not superior to the alternative.

watchOS just because the competition isn't very good anyway (I don't care about smartwatches). I think all the smart TV OSes are on par and macOS is DEFINITELY not more usable than Windows. iOS might be the only real exception for me (I do think it's better than Android).

But in spite of that I have two iPhones, an iPad Pro, a MacBook Pro, and a Hackintosh.

I think I've reached a point where I'm more productive on macOS just because I'm fast with all the keyboard shortcuts and gestures. I'm also very comfortable managing settings, editing system files and formatting/partitioning drives in Terminal, among other things. I feel kind of lost on Windows these days TBH, probably because I'm out of practice. I haven't really used it regularly since 7. Occasionally I have to mess around with it to help family but that's about it.

I wanted to install Windows 10 on something to check out what it was about but all of the negativity around privacy kind of further solidified my move away from it and removed any desire to mess with it.

For gaming I have an Arch partition, Linux is getting more support in that realm every day.

I'm on a MacBook Pro right now (although it's a work computer I refurbished with my own money because I felt sorry for it; I do have my actual MacBook in my bag, though).

Is it a fat one? I think the 2012 models and earlier are the best for refurb because you can drop the optical, slap in 2 SSDs (which are pretty cheap rn) and RAID them for maximum speed. Those are kind of ancient now though.

It took them way too long to introduce retina on the MacBook Air, but I'm glad they haven't killed it entirely if it is to offer a real low cost option for consumers among the Mac lineup.

3rd generation butterfly? I didn't think there were more than 2 generations of the butterfly (non-sealed/sealed) keyboard.

2 thunderbolt 3 ports, pretty much renders the Macbook 12" useless.

2.75lb is pretty good. IIRC 2.4lb is the weight of the current MacBook 12", so I guess the MacBook 12" still has that over the Air.

That footprint decrease is impressive though.

That's cool I still use an ancient fatty with SSD and an old school LED Cinema Display. I used the dosdude1 patches to keep everything updated.

From $1199 USD (MacBook Air)

Not sub 1k, I am disappointed kind of. I think Apple would greatly benefit if they tackled something in the sub 1k range with products. They probably should have just improved the MacBook 12" by giving it an additional USB-C port.

This guy looks like dawkins.

I think 10GB ethernet will be nice for people using the Mac Mini as a small server.

$799 is not a great introductory price for a bottom end Mac Mini with 8GB of RAM and a 128GB SSD.

Eh, okay, not HORRIFICALLY overpriced. Depends on how much it spikes as you start adding this and that.

It's sub 1k, so I guess that's a bonus. I'm going to guess everything is soldered in and not upgradeable by the end user, but maybe they will surprise iFixit and everyone else.

Wasn't really that interested in the Apple Store stuff. Hopefully the iPad Pro update will be better.

I dig the straight iPhone SE/iPhone 5 like edges on the updated iPad Pro. That aesthetic always appealed to me more, even on the phones.

Rounded corners on the iPad screen, that's kind of ballsy.

They reduced the footprint substantially.

No home button/now has face ID. I want this ( )

Imagine having a 1TB iPad, JFC. I guess that's good for people doing a lot of art oriented stuff.

Omg USB-C Finally...

Looking at these updates and footprint decrease I would probably sell previous generation and upgrade if I had an iPad Pro. I just have an iPad Mini for reading.

I don't think anyone actually cares about AR

This thing looks like a beast. I don't think I would be holding it while drawing, but I don't know how heavy it is at this point.

Edit: she says "no lag", I saw lag.

$799 / $999

great introductory pricing
