A couple of friends and I started up hardcore seasonals and hoo boy have we lost a couple characters lol. Because we have different playing times and we'd have to try and boost someone ten or so levels behind. I was duoing with my friend last night and he was 8 levels behind. Got one shot by The Butcher lol

Can't wait for PoE tho. I hear the passives and stuff are kinda complicated/really deep tho?

It's a much more complicated game. Diablo be like "This weapon's special skill boosts your weapon damage by 1500%" or "if someone is trapped by your special skill A, then using special skill B will have 300% increased damage".

POE be like "using gem A in conjuction with gem B nets you a 5% multiplicative bonus that stacks on each attack, but using it with gem C triples the amount of attacks. Using all those with gem D doubles the attack speed of each of those attacks and adding gem E into the mix creates 3 ghost followers who all do the same attack with all the same bonuses from gems".

So basically Diablo 3 is easy to understand, POE gets super broken in a cool way if you figure out how to stack things effectively. That's why if you watch a POE gameplay video you'll see them spamming the same move over and over again but it seems to wipe out an entire army in one hit.

The other thing I'll mention is it takes way longer to git gud. You can reach level 70 in Diablo 3 in a weekend. I've been playing POE on and off for months and I'm still like, level 40.

@__@ That sounds crazy lol. But I'm really excited because I hear there's a bunch more classes compared to Diablo? And hopefully it's the same system where every level up gives you 2-3 new moves/runes.

Friends and I were thinking of starting out hardcore too <__<

There are 3 "pure" classes and 3 hybrid classes, and each class has 3 "upgrade" classes they specialise into. So you have the typical tank, archer, mage classes, for strength, dexterity and intelligence respectively. Then you have duelist, assassin and monk classes which use a combination of each. Then each class will have a choice later in the game to become something else, e.g. the tank can become a juggernaut or berserker or chieftan. So arguably there are 24 classes. And the character skill tree...holy shit that's a whole different story.

The attack skills part is different though. Rather than learning attack skills, you find gems which slot into weapons which give your character skills. So say you have a weapon with 3 slots on it. You can have one gem which makes all your attacks produce fire, and another gem which makes every attack create 3 ghosts which do the same attack, and then another gem that makes any fire attack create 3 magma balls erupt from your weapon. All of that links together.

So what ends up happening is 12 magma balls erupt in various places in the battlefield every time you attack someone.

I'm intrigued to find out how they're gonna do it because they could never provide controller support to the PC version because of how some skills require precise aiming

D3 just gets silly with set bonuses. Sweep does 3300% damage, etc.
