Post comments if you want. Think back to how you felt in 2012 or 2013, when the 8th generation was just getting going, and memories of 7th generation graphics were fresh in your mind.

Big graphical leaps are over and the price of minor differences will keep growing.

I think it was a minor, possibly moderate improvement, but still disappointing. First time I've EVER seen such a small improvement in gaming. Having said that, the improvement was still welcome.

Hundreds of dollars welcome?

The price versus the improvement just isn't enough anymore.

What about the improved XBox One and PS4? 4K gaming. People seem pretty obssessed with that.

I don't care about better graphics. Those can stay where they are. I want better physics and better artificial intelligence.

Also I don't like there being different stronger versions of THE SAME system. It's confusing as fuck.

I think there's been a huge increase in attention to detail. RDR2 is a pretty obvious example, but it shows how much things like lighting, color, and environmental details have improved this gen. you can compare something as simple as grass to a last gen game and see a huge difference in both movement and clarity.

But how much fun does that level of detail add?

I don't know that it inherently adds more fun to a game, but I find it interesting and increasingly more impressive. I agree with you though, I'm more looking forward to physics improvements, animations included. I don't see big AI improvements happening sooner than later, but that's definitely something that needs work in the industry.

To be fair, improved graphics over the years had improved gameplay.

- When draw distances got much longer, like on the N64, you could decide where to go next because you could see it in the distance

- More detail on graphics makes it easier to see / understand things

- Smoother framerates make the game easier to play, as opposed to jerky framerates (although framerates have been up and down over the years)
