-There's a bigger variety of levels to choose from at once instead of the linear progression of Galaxy 2

-Green stars in Galaxy 2 is literally the worst thing ever

-Galaxy 2 removed the Ice powerup, which was fun as fuck

-More of Rosalina in Galaxy 1 than in Galaxy 2 >_>

-Grand Finale Galaxy is more fun than Grandmaster Galaxy

- Probably.

- Depends on the person, but OK.

- 2 lets you swap freely between Mario and Luigi. I'll take that over being locked as Luigi all the time. Especially since Luigi's control is rage-inducingly bad for certain missions.

- Not by much. Certainly not enough to be notably different. Just because Galaxy 2 uses a standard world map scheme for level selection doesn't mean it's much more linear considering Galaxy 1 is fairly linear as well.

- The **** you saying, Green Stars were awesome. Certainly way better than Galaxy 1 pulling a Ghosts & Goblins out of its ass and saying 'good job man, now beat the whole thing 100% once again for the true ending lol'. If anything, that was a horrible slap to the player's face. Luigi should have been unlockable way earlier, by just beating Bowser plus one additional sidequest-y objective somewhere.

- Hell no. The novelty of Grand Finale Galaxy wears off in two minutes. Look at me in the eye and lie to me that the enjoyment of Grandmaster Galaxy ends in two minutes. You can't.

but it has worse level design, awful pacing, even lesser difficulty, and a lot more annoying bullshit (not counting green stars)

removals of ice flower and red star are nothing to complain about, the hub had nothing to fucking do in it so it got boring really quick (really annoying when hunting comics)

linearity is a dumb-as-fuck thing to complain about when you have to deal with the same progression gates with the fortresses in the original, only now in 2 you have to actually play the better-designed levels instead of just ignoring them

What I dont like about galaxy 2 is how much of the space theme was thrown out in favor of Sky Worlds. Aside from gravity mechanics, in Galaxy 2 only a couple levels even resemble anything space related.

Galaxy 2 is an improvement and superior in almost every way unless you really care about hub worlds, which I don't.

Challenge, level design, music, variety, end game... SMG2 is simply a better game.

I'm more fond with Galaxy 1 since it made more of an impact on me. Galaxy 2 feels like the better game but more of the same. I dunno which one I like better, tbh.

i 100%ed the game twice, but i only did the first game once and that was after forcing myself to

It's not like the green stars were part of the main 120 stars. It was extra content it had over Galaxy 1. I guess they're bad if you just have to 100% the game no matter what but still seems better than replaying the same exact game as Luigi.

The green stars added extra little challenges to what was already there, a perfect post game type of thing to do. I did not want to replay the game again as slippery mario. I would just start a new game. Green stars add content, forcing you to look at the game a different way. Galaxy 1 recycles the game, with absolutely no differences except a wet floor.
